Ian-Arthur de Sulocki winner of numerous surf casting tournaments in Rio along with winner of Manaus peacock tournaments 2022 2023 also works on television show FishTV. Alexandre Mega Arruda is also the director of the houseboat and fishery management in Barcelos and Santa Isabel Rio Negro. Mega is operations for the Kalua which runs seamless. 1. Jurubaxi: Monster Peackock Bass In The Indigenous Reserve
This area is located in an area where monster peacock bass live is based out of Santa Isabel Rio Negro (SIRN) The Kalua team has obtained exclusive rights to the Jurubaxi since September 2018, working with the community to provide jobs, provide money for construction of new building, internet to make life more sustainable and to help protect it’s very special resources. We have secured 170 miles of exclusive water here more than any other operator in the area. We have set up river monitors to keep statistics of all peacock bass being caught here CM, weight, location, time.
Zero kill of peacock bass here in these waters and which are supervised 24 hours a day.. The season starts at the end of August, and it can extend until the month of March, depending on the water levels. The Jurubaxi´s River is excellent for fishing giant peacock bass and catfishes, like pirararas, piraíbas and surubins . We board in Santa Isabel do Rio Negro (SIRN) . The complete package is 8 days with 6 fishing days.
2. Negro River and tributaries: trip to the unexplored Amazon
Between the months of September and February, we will fish from Barcelos and Santa Isabel Rio Negro, according to the chosen destination, always looking for the very best conditions for anglers. Kalua operates on the tributaries of the Rio Negro, including Caurés, Demeni, Aracá, Atauí, Padauari, Itu, Cuiuni and Arirarrá. The guides are well seasoned with a minimum of 10 years experience
They know all the best fishing locations with hidden lagoons and where almost unexplored areas are. This region is excellent for fishing the big peacock bass, as well as other species like catfishes like pirararas (Lau Lau) and piraibas (Red tails) and piraracu (Arapaima). This region is known worldwide as IGFA record for the Peacock Bass, weighing over 28 pounds was caught in this region.
