Papua New Guinea has some of the best fishing territory in the world. In particular, the mighty Black bass found only in PNG, offer some of the most intense sportfishing on the planet. Members of the Lutjanid family, the Bass are compact, powerful fish and can grow to incredible size in the rivers of Papua New Guinea and kilo for kilo, or pound for pound, these lure crunching thugs have no equals. PNG’s freshwater fishing can lay claim to being the best and most exciting in the world with great opportunities for both lure and fly anglers. Not only the black and barramundi, but mangrove jack, trevally, fingermark snapper, tarpon and jungle perch and GT’s. Of course, the freshwater runs into the salt. Saltwater flyfishing has become very popular in recent years. This location that we are fishing has not seen people of the modern world in over 63 years, no commercial fishing here there are good numbers of fish here, this is a location off the beaten path. This location specializes PNG black bass and barramundi, the average size barramundi is 20lb till Oct/Nov then it moves up to 30/40lb. Nice operation with nice boats and motors, meals are based on Creole, Chinese and local favorites. The PNG blacks are a challenge to strategy and strength of a angler.
